How to read a scientific article

Some of the courses I teach in Innsbruck and elsewhere might be the first foray into reading academic articles for students, and its not always an easy task. In a world ever swamped with more and more articles, or varying quality, its impossible to read them all. I advise students to make recommendations of useful articles to each other, to help sift the wheat from the chaff. Also, in an effort to collect and collate some tips on how to do most effectively read academic articles I came across a succinct Elsevier blog, featuring this infographic, which I think could be helpful:
